Happy New Year!

Happy 2012, friends!

Our family had a low-key, quiet New Year's Day at home yesterday... all of us sleeping in until almost noon! :-) We stayed in our PJs all day... watched home videos... and only changed to go out for dinner!

For this first blog post of 2012, I thought it would be cool to look back and highlight the most-read blog posts of this blog from 2011. Well folks... here are the top five:
1. Turning A Corner
2. Water = Life
3. How To Make Sense Of This?
4. Prayer and Action
5. Only God Can {quite possibly my favourite one!}
As I look back to almost five years of blogging {it will be five years this year in July}, I can truly say that it's been a blessing! I've made friends, been encouraged, learned lots, grown much... with these thoughts in mind, here are the top five blogs that have been a source of encouragement to me these past five years:
1. A Holy Experience
2. Compassion: Blog on Child Poverty
3. Beauty and Depravity
4. Shaun Groves
5. Inspired To Action
And... a whole community of Compassion Bloggers who encourage and spur one another on towards love and good deeds! A more detailed master list of Compassion Bloggers is being compiled by fellow Compassion Advocate, Jill Foley, over at her blog Compassion Family... please hop over and say hello!

As I continue to count grace-gifts... these are the things I am thankful for this week... #1188 - #1200:

:: The many friends I met through this blog.
:: Encouragement and lessons from fellow bloggers.
:: Fellow Compassion bloggers and advocates... releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name!
:: A pleasantly relaxing, low-key week between Christmas and New Year!
:: Visiting and touring the offices of Compassion Canada.
:: Meeting Tracy and her family! Tracy is Compassion Canada's Advocate Network National Manager.
:: Dessert night with friends... and being challenged and encouraged.
:: Wrapping up accounting for 2011 and seeing God's faithfulness!
:: Representing Compassion Canada at a New Year's Eve worship service, and...
:: Seeing little Emerson from El Salvador sponsored... in time to ring in 2012!
:: Ringing in the New Year with family and good friends.
:: New Year's Day spent quietly at home.
:: My one word for 2012: SOAR!

Happy New Year, friends!
May 2012 be a beautiful rendering of God's grace in each of our lives!
I open a Bible and His plans, startling, lie there barefaced. It's hard to believe it, when I read it, and I have to come back to it many times, feel long across those words, make sure they are real. But His love letter forever silences the doubts: "Before the world began, God planned this wisdom for our glory." (1 Corinthians 2:7 NCV)
