Praying for Team Haiti: Day 11

As most of you already know, Team Haiti is a joint effort by some of the churches that belong to The Sanctuary Network of churches --- we are a growing group of churches giving ourselves away for the Kingdom of God.

I know that Team Haiti would be no different... their mission in going to Haiti would also be to give themselves away for the Kingdom of God.  This is my prayer for them today... that they will indeed give themselves away!

In reality, because the devastation, poverty and need in Haiti is so great, I think Team Haiti will realize, once there, that what they have to give away --- effort, time, money, resources, energy --- will only be enough for the "tip of the iceberg".

This reminds me of the story in the Bible when Jesus fed five thousand people.  Jesus only required the boy to share his lunch --- five loaves and two fish.  Jesus did the multiplication!  The same is true for Team Haiti (and for all of us!)... when we do our part in giving our best, Jesus will do His part in multiplying our mere offering making it overflow with leftovers!
Then Jesus told the disciples to have the people sit down in groups on the green grass.  So they sat down in groups of fifty or a hundred.  Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftover bread and fish. A total of 5,000 men and their families were fed from those loaves!  --- Mark 6:39-44 (NLT)
