Memory Verse Monday #15

As part of his Sunday message yesterday, our Pastor gave us homework! We are to look up verses in the Bible containing the phrase "stand firm" and study them. So, to make it easier for me (I am very grateful for BibleGateway right now...), I am going to post those verses right here on my blog for Memory Verse Monday!

Here are quite a few of them:

Exodus 14:13
Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.

2 Chronicles 20:17
You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.

Job 11:13-19 (I think this is my favourite one!)
Yet if you devote your heart to Him and stretch out your hands to Him, if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and without fear. You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by. Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like morning. You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety. You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid, and many will court your favor.

Psalm 20:7-8
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

Proverbs 10:24

When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.

Isaiah 7:9 (This one is very convicting!)
If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.

Matthew 10:22

All men will hate you because of Me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Luke 21:19

By standing firm you will gain life.

1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

1 Corinthians 16:13
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 (I'm glad God is the one helping me to stand firm!)
Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

2 Corinthians 1:24
...because it is by faith you stand firm.

Galatians 5:1
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Ephesians 6:14
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

Philippians 1:27-28
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you.

Philippians 4:1
Therefore, my brothers, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends!

Colossians 4:12
...that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.

1 Thessalonians 3:8
For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord.

2 Thessalonians 2:15
So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, ...

James 5:8
You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near.

1 Peter 5:8-9
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
